Mrs. Sarah McMahon Berndt, 81, of 849 11th St., died Saturday at 7 p.m. at her home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. The fire department rescue squad was called but Mrs. Berndt was beyond aid.
Mrs. Berndt was born Sept. 21, 1873, in Irvington, Pa., a daughter of James and Mary Hennesse McMahon. She was married to Jacob Berndt and he preceded her in death in 1936.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mercedes Rose, 849 1th St., Mrs. Elizabeth Westphal, 411 Gay St. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Mrs. Berndt was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the church of which she was a member with Rev. Joseph R. Casey in charge. Burial is to be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Daehler Funeral Home.
