    • From: Beers' History of Brown County. Ohio, 1883
      He built a mill at White Oak and put it in operation in May 1842. A fulling and saw mill had previously occupied this site, built by his father. Three run of buhrs were attached to the mill - two for wheat, one for corn. Henry not only did custom work, but bought large quantities of wheat, made flour of it, and shipped the flour down the Ohio River. During the last years little grinding has been done and the mill has practically been abandoned.
      Two of Henry's sons operated hotels. Jehu Pierce operated the old Pierce Hotel in Higginsport, Brown County, Ohio. John Pierce operated the Pierce Hotel in Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio.
      Note: Beer's History is incorrect as John and Jehu were not Henry's sons, John was his brother and Jehu a nephew.

      Abstracts from Brown County Land Records:
      He owned 134 1/2 acres in Brown County. His birth place was taken from land records in Brown County as there is no West Chester County in Delaware. Land records state his place of birth New Castle County, Delaware however his obituary says he was born in West Chester County Delaware, which does not exist. Although at that time it was common to move state boundaries from time to time.
