      Mrs. Mary J. Flowers
      Mrs. Mary J. Flowers, born at Coopersville, November 17, 1849, and died May 17, 1924, at the age of 74 years and six months. The final summons came at her home near Coopersville, Camp Creek community, Pike county. She had been ill about four months with general complications.
      The husband Nathaniel Garland Flowers, Sr., passed away about three years ago. Surviving are four sons and three daughters: Ralph, of Walnut street, Portsmouth; Ray at home; Lon and Garland, who conduct a meat market on Waller street [Portsmouth]; Mrs. J. G. Grabb of Chillicothe; Mrs. D. W. McClay, of Bowling Green; and Miss May Flowers, at home.
      Mrs. Flowers was a member of the Howard U. B. Church and was highly respected as a church and community worker. Funeral services were held from the Howard U. B. church by Rev. Charles Bremmer, Tuesday morning. Burial was in the Howard cemetery.
      (note: The newspaper published her husband as Ralph Flowers Sr which is an error as he was her son.)
