Therefore comfort one another with these words. Our precious Mother and Grandmother, Carrie Jean (Fisher) Hoople, passed Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Born August 13, 1931 in Ashland, KY, she was a daughter of the late John and Cynthia Sug Fisher of Portsmouth and was the last surviving sibling of her family. Carrie was a member of Voice of Hope Church of God in Chillicothe and a retired State of Ohio employee having worked at the former Portsmouth Receiving Hospital. Also preceding her in death were her husbands, Floyd Bloomfield, Ford Lewis and Robert Hoople; six brothers, Ed and Wade Howard, Orville and Harry Fisher and Carl and Floyd (Jr.) Adams; and four sisters, Oakie James, Oneida Galloway Penny, Ethel Williams and Virginia Bell. Surviving are four daughters; Donna Jean (Jim) Arthur of Portsmouth, Sheila Ann Hickman of Minford, Mary Lou Grooms of South Point and Teresa Lynn Lane of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, Paul Ray Hickman of Ashland, KY, Regina (Tom) Kelley of Portsmouth, Rachel Riddle of Middlesboro, KY, Rhonda (Gary) Cooper of Portsmouth, Rick (Caroline) Hickman, Chris (Jackie) Hickman, Michelle (Jason) White and Tiffany Lane, all of Wheelersburg, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and many wonderful loving and caring nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor John Karlson officiating. Interment will be in Rushtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brants in Portsmouth from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The family would like to send a special thank you to SOMC Hospice.
