- MIAMISBURG, Ohio - The Rev. Ora L. Hoffer, father of Knox County Commissioner Theron "Red" Hoffer, died 11 p.m. Thursday at Sycamore Hospital here,
Hoffer, 73, had been pastor of South Union Road Christian Church here for 16 years. He was previously employed with Hankins Container Co. here.
A native of Otway, he was born Sept.5 , 1912 to Richard C. and Myrtle (Stephenson) Hoffer.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Wheeler); three sons, Theron of Vincennes, Fercil C. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Gerald T. of W. Carrollton; four daughters, Myrtle A. Fields, Juanita Wheeler and Loretta Shields, all of Miamisburg, and Marilyn Whitley of South Salem; a step-son, David Gamble, of West Carrollton; a step-daughter, Theresa Beckett of Miamisburg; a brother Harold, of Otway; a sister, Agnes F. Smith of South Bend, Ind.; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the South Union Road Christian Church with the Rev. Thomas Little officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens here.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church.
