- Anna Mae Hafer, 94, of Aberdeen, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley. She was born on February 25, 1915 in Adams County, Ohio the daughter of the late Roy Lee Kirk and Matilda (Ellington) Woodruff.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William A. Hafer in 2003, one son, William Elwood Hafer, six brothers, Richard, William, Charles, Elwood, Ronnie Kirk and one brother died in infancy and one sister, Betty Kirk.
She was retired after 22 years of service at PCP in Ripley, a homemaker and was the oldest member of the Enon Christian Church, near Manchester.
She is survived by five children, Barbara (Roger) Fisher, of West Union, Leroy (Mary) Hafer, and Clara (Kenny) Tucker, all of Aberdeen, Don (June) Hafer, of Russellville and Joyce (Barry) Tumey, of Fairview, Ky.; one brother, Allen Kirk, of West Union; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 17 at the Enon Christian Church, S.R. 41, Manchester, Ohio. Reverends John Conley and Jack Arrasmith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery.
